The California Dinosaur Garden, coming in 2023, will be an immersive experience of the Cretaceous period in California. Life-size dinosaurs will accompany prehistoric plants, realistic animal sculptures, and interactive exhibits (hello fossil dig!) to create a uniquely engaging snapshot of life in California during the Cretaceous period. This exhibit will encourage imaginative outdoor play while stimulating curiosity and interest in this formulative period of California history.
This beautiful outdoor space will be fully accessible, including wheelchair access to the fossil dig, braille labels, and tactile, sensory-rich elements for children of all abilities. We can't wait for guests to experience engaging nature play and hands-on exploration of the natural world through this upcoming exhibit. Stepping into the California Dinosaur Garden will truly feel like stepping into the Cretaceous period, and is sure to bring history to life for kids and adults alike.
The Friends of the Palo Alto Junior Museum & Zoo are currently running a capital campaign to raise funds for this special exhibit.
The California Dinosaur Garden is an upcoming addition to the Dawn Redwood Courtyard. Currently, the space features a wheelchair-accessible gravel dig and prehistoric foliage.
