Zoo Animals

Under a protective net, animals roam freely and safely with visitors in a natural and whimsical setting. Featured exhibits include the Tree House, Meerkat Desert, Raccoon Creek, Cichlid Lake, Rabbit Meadow, Tortoise Savannah, Lemur Forest, and Wildlife Circle (where visitors can meet animals and talk with Animal Care Specialists). Guests might be able to feed a flamingo, marvel at macaws, waddle with the ducks, and try to find many other unique birds in the forest canopy. Adventures await as children can climb in a net above the zoo and explore an underwater tunnel and many hidden nooks.

There are over 60 species of animals and over 400 specimens housed at the Palo Alto Junior Museum & Zoo. Resident animals are rescued pets, non-releasable wildlife, or part of a network of organized collections called Species Survival Plans (SSPs) that are maintained by members of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).  Learn more on AZA's website for information on SSPs.
