JMZ Receives Significant Achievement Award
The Palo Alto Junior Museum & Zoo is excited to share that we received a Significant Achievement Award for the Angela Peterson Excellence in Diversity Award for our Super Family Sundays program.
The Angela Peterson Excellence in Diversity Award recognizes AZA institutions demonstrating transformational leadership in diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion through programs that create lasting impact within their organizations and beyond.
Our Super Family Sundays program provides free, exclusive access to the JMZ for families with children who have physical disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, sensory sensitivities, and other learning differences. Since its creation in 2010, more than 13,000 guests have participated. Beyond the events themselves, Super Family Sundays has helped shape the JMZ’s approach to accessibility and inclusion, including informing the design of our new facility and reinforcing universal design throughout our exhibits, programs, and visitor experience.
We especially recognize our staff Lee Harper, Kat Burton, Jasmin Ibarra-Cortes, Anne Elvin, Alejandro Meza, Trudi Wallicks-Horrocks, Lisa Eriksen, Tina Keegan, and the Friends of the Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo for their contributions to making Super Family Sundays possible.
The Palo Alto Junior Museum & Zoo is dedicated to providing accessible programs for our community. Explore our accessibility programs and learn more about Super Family Sundays.
