• These birds are widespread in Africa.
• African spoonbills are wading birds with long legs.
• Males and female spoonbills look the same.
• They swing their long spoon-shaped bill in water looking for fish, insects, and crustaceans (crabs, mollusks). Then they jerk their head back to swallow.
• These birds are protected by United Nations. They cross national borders when they migrate.
• African Spoonbills can live 15 years or more.
