We're transforming the tunnel off of Middlefield Road into the "Rainbow Tunnel"!
The Rainbow Tunnel is an ongoing project that will be installed in the upcoming months. This exhibit will be a mirrored space based on the rainbow colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet) that make up the visible spectrum.
The visible spectrum is the narrow portion of the electromagnetic spectrum visible to the human eye. The design and shape will create an infinity room and have kaleidoscope effects. Educators can use the space to teach concepts of reflection and refraction.
It will introduce young visitors to the science of light and reflection. Mirrors and illuminated rainbow colors create opportunities for children to notice how reflections change as they move, how colors blend, and how light behaves in different surfaces.
We would like to thank the Angelo Family Foundation for the donation to this project. Gizmo Art Productions is the fabricator and installer, Edward Whelan and Brian Weinstein are the designers of this exhibit.
